Seven Celebrities That Have Passed Away

First off,I’m not going to keep this one long,for seven well-known celebrities(both of the genre and the mainstream) recently passed away and moved on to the other side…

* Jamaa Fanaka: black filmmaker who filled the blaxploitation genre with some truly wild and veru unique classics that include the likes of PENITENTIARY 1,2,and 3(the most insane and completely off-the-wall of the mens prison trilogy),EMMA MAE(a.k.a.:BLACK SISTER’S REVENGE),WELCOME HOME,BROTHER CHARLES(a.k.a.:SOUL VENGEANCE),and STREET WARS(his final film). He passed away from diabetes complications.

* William Finley: cult actor extraddinaire who frequently worked with Brian DePalma and Tobe Hooper and appeared in the films MURDER A LA MOD(DePalma’s debut film),SISTERS(as the unforgettably creepy doctor),THE FURY,EATEN ALIVE,WISE BLOOD,THE WEDDING PARTY,SILENT RAGE(as the doctor who unknowingly resurrects a slain killer to life),THE FUNHOUSE,(tobe Hooper’s)NIGHT TERRORS,and THE BLACK DAHLIA. He was 69 and passed away after having surgery.

* Luke Askew: a well-respected character actor who appeared in films that included EASY RIDER,COOL HAND LUKE,THE GREEN BERETS,PAT GARRETT AND BILLY THE KID,ROLLING THUNDER,THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN RIDE,PART 2:WALKING TALL,WANDA NEVADA,ANGEL UNCHAINED,WILL PENNY,POSSE(the Kirk Douglas western),THE BEAST WITHIN,THE WARRIOR AND THE SORCERESS,NO RETREAT,NO SURRENDER 3(a.k.a.:BLOOD BROTHERS),BULLETPROOF(the Gary Busey actioneer),SAVAGE,FRAILTY,DUNE WARRIORS,and THE GREATEST GAME EVER PLAYED(his final film).

* Robert Fuest: British filmmaker who had his start on the famed Tv series THE AVENGERS and moved on in his film career directing the likes of THE ABOMINABLE DR. PHIBES.DR. PHIBES RISES AGAIN,THE FINAL PROGRAMME(a.k.a.:THE LAST DAYS OF MAN ON EARTH),REVENGE OF THE STEPFORD WIVES,WUTHERING HEIGHTS,AND SOON THE DARKNESS(the Pamela Franklin starring original),and THE DEVIL’S RAIN.

Rudy Ricci: a frequent George Romero associate who starred in the likes of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD,DAWN OF THE DEAD(as the biker gang leader),and THE BOOBY HATCH(which he also directed),as well co-wrote the original script for RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD.

Mike Wallace: the famed newsman of CBS’ 60 MINUTES show.

Chief Jay Strongbow:  legendary Americna Indian wrestler who was in the WWF/WWE in the 70s.

Sad to have lost all of those unique personalities,for I’m sure that more passings are unfortunately on the way(as much as I don’t want anymore to happen).

About stevenmillan

I'm just a simple genre cinema fan(NOT a fanboy and NOT a geek)who widely glimpses onto the latest in cinema news,cinema events,and world news of the day events,and just to warn you(especially if you're one of those politically correct elitists,or strongly despise folks that never brownnose the genre cinema media press):I do sharply bite.
