Obituary Dept.:Three More Celebrity Passings

With the many celebrity passings that have happened in the first three weeks of this year,I’m going to start off an Obituary Department with the three most recent celebrity passings…

  * Don Kirshner: music producer and manager who was the manager of Connie Francis, helped Bob Rafelson and Bert Schneider assemble(and put together)The Monkees, and produced the long running DON KIRSHNER’S MIDNIGHT SPECIAL(which was one of the top preludes for the beginning of MTV). He was 76 and passed away from heart failure.

  * Sussanah York: British actress who’s best known for appearing in the first landmark mainstream gay/lesbian film THE KILLING OF SISTER GEORGE,playing Superman’s mother in SUPERMAn and SUPERMAN II,and appeared in genre films that include THE SHOUT and THE AWAKENING. She was 72 and had cancer.

  * Peter Yates: widely known mainstream director/filmmaker of films that include BULITT,THE DEEP,KRULL,THE FRIENDS OF EDDIE COYLE,THE HOT ROCK,and MOTHER,JUGS,AND SPEED. He was 81.

With the rate these celebrity passings are coming,it’s making myself and others from the Baby Boomer generation feeling a lot older knowing that our familiar celebrity faces are no longer with us,for I even dread to think about which celebrities we’ll next be losing.  😦 😦

About stevenmillan

I'm just a simple genre cinema fan(NOT a fanboy and NOT a geek)who widely glimpses onto the latest in cinema news, cinema events, and world news of the day events, and just to warn you(especially if you're one of those politically correct elitists,or strongly despise folks that never brownnose the genre cinema media press):I do sharply bite.
