As I’ve been sticking to my diet that I’ve started three weeks ago(and lost over 15 pounds, via eating lots of yogurt and veggies, and doing lots of weights and treadmill action),there are two things that I have to quickly address here, one good and one bad,so I’ll first start with the bad…
* Bradley Cooper As THE CROW ?!?!: now,we all know that current Hollywood star Bradley Cooper had his start in the horror genre with films such as MY LITTLE EYE(where he did a cameo as a gal’s one night stand)and THE MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN(where he carried the lead role pretty well),but now there’s talk of him undertaking Brandon Lee’s famous role as the anti-hero crusader in a remake of THE CROW. No way–No Way is Bradley Cooper Eric Draven and he could never–Never–match up against Brandon’s powerful performance(a task that the likes of Vincente Perez,Eric Mabius, and Edrward Furlong failed to top in their lameass disposable sequels).
* Jose Mojica Marins’ EMBODIMENT OF EVIL: now,on a happier note,EMOBIDIMENT OF EVIl has finally made its U.S. DVD debut and it packs more than a whallop, for it’s 1000 % horror heaven and a definitve must for folks to run-Run-to their nearest record/DVD store to pick up and see,and it’s nonstop gore, creepy atmosphere, splatter, naked ladies, and Coffin Joe still terrorizing the premises of Brazil(with his just-as-creepy entourage) as he did 40+ years ago with some social commentary on Brazil’s social issues(such as cops and vigilantes killing homeless kids, something that Marins heavily despises)added on to give it a modern feel, for I’m sure that Rob Zombie wept when he saw this film since not even Zack Snyder could ever compete with the horrific scenery and brutally unrated gore of all kinds(that even surpasses the splatter of Dario Argento’s MASTERS OF HORROR episodes[which were the best episodes in both seasons of that series])that makes EMBODIMENT OF EVIL the Best Film Of 2011,for HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN sounds like some serious competition for this film but HOBO… will have to try really hard to take the top spot from EMBODIMENT OF EVIL,for you’ll forget about SCREAM and all of those other modern horror films that you can easily name once after you see the latest celluloid tale that Jose Mojica Marins fully delivers (and then some)in his longly awaited “Welcome Back !!!” comeback to the genre.
More next time,everyone !!
