John Carpenter’s and Rick Rosenthal’s HALLOWEEN 2 has finally been released onto Blu Ray this week, but it unfortunately is carrying a majorly large controversy with it that has angered a lot of fans that has driven them to the point of calling out for a boycott of the Blu Ray,for I found out from a Facebook friend of the reason why.
It’s being boycotted because executive producer Moustapha Akkad’s name was removed from the credits on the Blu Ray,with the word being that it’s because of his friendship with Libya’s leader Mommar Gaddafi. Oh,wow. Real cool. Akkad’s name is removed because of his association with Gaddafi. This so reaks of total poltical correctness of people heavily fussing over things that don’t seem right to their ears and eyes since 9/11 happened(ala if you says “Bombs Away !!” as a joke or call someone who isn’t gay a “fag” instead of an asshole, you’re immediately getting bricks thrown at you).
So,am I going to boycott the Blu Ray because of this reason ?! No !! I’m getting it mainly because it’s got the film TERROR IN THE AISLES included as its secret mystery feature and it’s going to be a collector’s item since the boycott will eventually result in the Blu Ray being recalled and re-released with Akkad’s name re-instated on the film and box credits, and let’s not forget that Akkad was also responsible for passing the rights for the filming for the latter majorly sucky sequels(such as Parts 5,6,and 7:H20),for otherwise if you’re going to call for a boycott of HALLOWEEN 2 then call for a boycott of Rob Zombie’s HALLOWEEN 2(mainly on the basis that it majorly sucks).
