Since I’ve haven’t posted in the last two weeks,I felt that I’ve better do my first post for 2013 now before it’s too late, for I’ll unfortunately have to start it off with three recent celebrity passings(which were the first of the New Year)…
* David R. Ellis: veteran stuntman who turned director for the likes of films that included FINAL DESTINATION 2,THE FINAL DESTINATION(4), (the much ballyhooed but mightily flopped)SNAKES ON A PLANE,CELLULAR, (the Straight-To-DVD schlockfest) ASYLUM,and (the critically trashed) 3-D outing SHARK NIGHT.
* Jon Finch: British actor who was originally offered to replace Sean Connery as James Bond/007 but turned it down(when LIVE AND LET DIE was to film),and wasn’t much of a high profile seeking actor(and was married[for a while] to Catriona MacColl),with his films including THE VAMPIRE LOVERS, (Alfred Hitchcock’s next-to-last film)FRENZY,THE HORROR OF FRANKENSTEIN,DEATH ON THE NILE,THE FINAL PROGRAMME(a.k.a.: LAST DAYS OF MAN ON EARTH),THE MARTIAN CHRONICLES,SUNDAY BLOODY SUNDAY,(Roman Polanski’s violently gory) MACBETH,(the shelved-but-soon-to-be-released pagan thriller) DARKLANDS, (the Full Moon outing) LURKING FEAR,and (his last film) KINGDOM OF HEAVEN.
* Mariangela Melato: best known for her role as one of the bad guys in FLASH GORDON(1980),she was also the star of the Lina Winemuller films SWEPT AWAY(which was [terribly] remade by Guy Ritchie in the 00s/2000s),and THE SEDUCTION OF MIMI,as well as starred in the likes of LOST AND FOUND,TO FORGET VENICE,EXECUTION SQUAD,THE GOOD SOLDIER,BEACH HOUSE,THE DAYS ARE NUMBERED,EYE OF THE CAT,MY DARLING MY DEAREST,SAXOPHONE,TOMORROW WE DANCE,DIRTY LINEN,DANCERS,MORTACCI,BETWEEN MIRACLES,LULU THE TOOL,LET’S HAVE A RIOT, POLICEWOMAN,INVASION,COME AWAY WITH ME,CARO MICHELE,AND(the badly bombed Ryan O’neil comedy) SO FINE.
As much as I wish for no more celebrity passings to occur(as they did in the last several years),I’ll be expecting the Celebrity Obituaries List of 2013 to be piling up(as the year moves along).
